28 July 2008
The TVB Olympic broadcast team, including celebrity hosts, professional sports commentators and the Olympic Stars took part were "sworn in" at a special promotional event in Tsimshatsui today.
One of the hosts and former Hong Kong team swimmer Alex Fong (方力申) was asked if he was worried about threats of terrorist activity at the games. He said he would leave this to the authoritiest to deal with and he was actually more worried about not preparing well enough for his interviews. Asked if he will be cutting down on his partying at night, Alex said that the producer has already warned him that he will not be able to finish work at night because he has to go and prepare for the following day's events.
Asked about the recent rumours about clashes between the police and the media, Alex said that he is not very persistent and if he is told to leave, he will leave and keep to the rules.
Hacken Lee (李克勤) showed off his ID pass proudly and revealed that he will be heading out to Beijing with the crew on 07 August to bear witness to the opening ceremony. He revealed that he will be hosting the show from the studio and will not be required to go and interview the athletes.
Recalling his adventures during the Atlanta games in 1996, Hacken told of how he got into trouble because he accidentally took a wrong turning and entered the area where they were raising the flags. He said that he was getting more and more excited as this year's games draw nearer.
Asked if he was worried about the extremist activity, Hacken said that it is difficult to comment, but he would like everyone to show tolerance and support the games.
Shirley Yeung (楊思琦) celebrates her birthday on 07 August and she smiled that it will be an extra special birthday for her this year because she will be in Beijing interviewing many of the athletes. Asked if she was worried about being obstructed by officials, she said that she trusted that the company will make the appropriate arrangements.
