Leo Ku Prepares Kubi For Summer Launch
28 April 2008
Leo Ku (古巨基) was joined by his cartoon creation Kubi at a press event today, where it was revealed that Kubi will be hosting the Olympic games specials Kubi's Olympic World <Kubi奧運世界> for public transportation entertainment channel Roadshow. The shows will begin broadcasting over the summer holiday period.
Leo laughed that Kubi can finally start making him some money and that he will be depending on his "son" Kubi to provide him with a retirement fund. He said that he will not be providing a voice for Kubi himself, so he is looking for a suitable voice, along the lines of a female pretending to be a male voice.
For the first set of shows, Leo revealed that he will not be charging a fee for Kubi, because he sees this as an initial promotion for other money-making projects in the pipeline. These will include Kubi animations, children's books and comic strips, working with some Japanese contacts.
Leo is the owner of Kubi's copyright and he said that as he does not think he can continue singing into his eighties, then he hopes that Kubi will allow him to break into the more stable field of children's products. Asked if he will be creating a female version of Kubi, Leo laughed that he would rather he had a real daughter instead.
