Eason Chan: Gossip Is The Price Of Fame

As leading singers for the company, Eason Chan (陳奕迅) and Hacken Lee (李克勤) took part in the grand launch of Blu-Ray DVD's by Universal Records yesterday.
The two stars still seemed very friendly with each other, despite recent rumours about Hacken turning down the chance to be an Olympic torch bearer, allowing Eason to use underhand techniques to win the coveted place in the relay. They even played along with the media and did some play fighting with their lightsabres during the event to stir up the atmosphere.
Asked to comment on the rumours, Hacken laughed that after so many years in the industry, he has become accustomed to these stories, so there is nothing he needs to respond to.
Eason said with an air of resignation that since he signed with Universal, then he has been linked constantly with conflict against Hacken and also Andy Hui (許志安) and Jacky Cheung (張學友), so he has accepted that this is one of the consequences of fame. He added that the honour of being a torch bearer is not down to how popular you are because there are plenty of ordinary people who were represented in the event.
Hacken agreed with his colleague and said that people should look at this incident in a more positive light and not try to add unnecessary stories into the news.
Hacken was also asked to comment on earlier stories abot his wife, Emily Lo (盧淑儀) hysterically taking their son to the hospital to seek medical attention. He explained that baby Ryan is six months old now and Emily was simply taking him to the hospital for innoculations. He said that he did not mind the press doing their jobs, but he hopes that they will think more carefully about their words and actions because he does not want to upset his family, nor for them to be disturbed.
